    David Wilson Homes plumbing

Graham, I don't know much about plumbing but my house has 15mm pipe from the stopcock onwards and we don't have any problems with it. We have 5 sinks and two showers in the house; it's not noisy and we've never noticed any problems running two showers at once. Mike

    Tenoning Jig Offer At Rutlands

Hi Steve, It just goes to show, I should read signatures! I like the look of you bandsaw jig, very clever and I think I'll make one. It looks a lot safer than any of the tablesaw jigs I've seen (I haven't seem yours yet so please don't think I'm suggesting it's unsafe!). If you ever get...

    fitted wardrobe

Bob, I had a similar problem with simliar face frames in a kitchen and I just did this: I used Hettich Sensys soft close hinges which have loads of adjustment and the doors line up perfectly. Cheers Mike

    Traditional kitchen installed

Hi, Thanks. I got the runners and the stainless steel slide from Isaac Lord. This is the basket http://www.isaaclord.co.uk/productDetai ... 45/546/567 it was pain to fit and get the door straight but it works well. The runners are Blum TANDEMBOX Drawer Runners...

    Traditional kitchen installed

Hi, If you look closely at this picture you can see that I fitted wooden shims to the carcass which matched the 'overhang' of the face frame so the runners are flush with the edge of the face frames. I just used offcuts and planed them to fit as they are invisible when the drawers are fitted...

How high is the ceiling in your workshop?

There's one vote for a 5ft ceiling - I'd love to see that workshop!

    Traditional kitchen installed

Thanks very much. Unfortunately, I drew all the plans ages ago using Coreldraw and I can no longer run it because I'm now using Windows 7. If I do manage to get it to run I'll get some copies and send you them. If it helps, I'll describe the construction instead: The carcass sides, bottoms...

    Traditional kitchen installed

I did make the wall unit but a long time ago and regretted fitting butt hinges because the doors swing all over and always seem to bang closed. Also they needed magnetic catches as well which never seem to work very well. I might well make new doors for it as one of them has warped and if I do...

I think I ended up thinning it by about 10%. The Earlex spray kit comes with a viscosity cup and I just thinned until it drained through it about 40secs. Cheers Mike

    Traditional kitchen installed

Thanks very much. Yes, it's tulip wood frames and MR-MDF panels. I bought the Earlex HV5000 set-up and used the standard nozzle, The paint is water based Farrow and Ball. I never made a booth, just covered everything in plastic sheeting from Screwfix. The HVLP setup really doesn't make...

    Traditional kitchen installed

Well I finally got it finished so here are a few pics The worktops are solid oak with the addition of about 10,000 coats of Danish oil. It's not quite finished in this picture as the pan rack at the left now has a shelf underneath and racks for the lids Internally all the cupboards are...

    Oak or Beech?

Make sure you test a piece before dyeing them. I've just fitted oak worktops and they they were very light when they arrived but a lot darker when oiled. Cheers Mike

Respirator recommendation for water based paint spraying

Hi, I would really appreciate some advice. I'm making a new kitchen and want to spray the doors and face frames using a water based primer/undercoat and Farrow and Ball 'Estate Eggshell' water based topcoat. I will be spraying in the garage which is reasonably well ventillated because I can...

    Kitchen refit - WIP

Thanks, It's not that big workshop, just a double garage; about 20ft x 20ft. I had to move things round a bit to fit it all together but I can still use everything. The drawer bottom is glued into a groove in the sides, front and back, the back is glued into a groove in the side and the front...

    Kitchen refit - WIP

It's been so long since I started my kitchen refit thread that I've lost it so here is where I have got to. Because of my day job I spent ages without making any progress but I've had a couple of free weekends and made a bit more progress so here are some pics. Left side of the kitchen. The...
