My AWGB club has a loan setup, Axminster M330 lathe, chuck, set of tools, grinder, sanding sealer, wax, sandpaper, the complete setup, they loan out to newbies for £5 per month. Well worth enquiring.
My workshop has 3" of loft isulation in the walls, and 4" in the roof.
it is 5m X 3.6m and I have the large pot belly woodburner.
That is more than enough heat for a workshop, I went to a lot of trouble to insulate the walls around it, I used two layers of fireproof plasterboardd, with an air...
I burn it in my woodburner, I cut it into strips about 2-3" wide and 6" long, so that it burns quickly. But with mouldings that wont be an issue. Make sure the fire is already burning nice and hot with a good roar on it, and just use part other wood scraps part mdf, always with the door shut.
Dont be so distrusting, most people are entirely genuine.
I have just bought a new wood lathe for £1100 I paid it straight into their account.
I had never heard of or met this person, I paid them the money 3 weeks ago and I am hoping to collect this weekend. (also from Scotland)

I have an old cheap 1/4" router, which has broken.
Of course I have 1/4" router bits for this.
I have bought a 1/2" router (Dewalt 625ES) and I whilst any new router bits I buy will be 1/2" ones, I would like to be able to use my 1/4" bits.
I understand you can get a collet for this, but...
Thanks for that, a very interesting write up .....I got to it before the mod!
although I am sure that a 20 year old article on an obsolete lathe nobody would be too interested in the copyright, but I guess the mod is just doing his job. ......although its an interesting legal aspect, if we only...
That sounds interesting, was it a full replacement 3 phase motor and Inverter etc?, was this a package from a supplier or something you put together yourself?
I have just bought a Hollow Forme and I cannot get it to cut at all. :?
Combination of setup and use I think. I will get my mentor to show me, it was him that recommended that tool.
Has anyone got any experience of the Poolewood 2840?
I know where there is one going and I was thinking about buying it.
Any information would be appreciated.
Heres another puzzler for you,
If I stand facing an oncoming train, and when it gets into range I fire a pea shooter at it, will the train stop?
My case is that the pea will bounce off, doing a complete change of direction 180degrees, as it changes direction, there must be a point in time...
