    Question for Bandsawists...

Hullo all, I'm trying to rip down some 120mm high oak at about 5mm thick on the bandsaw. It's got a brand new blade (25mm x 3tpi) and I'm using the Kreg resaw jig. Anyhoo the blade keeps jumping off the rear guide under the table, so the blade ends up on the round of the wheel rather than the...

    beech finish

You'd normally wax over oil I think rather than varnish, although oil can be used in it's own right...

    Dovetail jigs?

I think a different cutter lets you cut different angles, can't see a reason why not...? There's absolutely no doubt hand cut dovetails look better and that's partly down to the spacing between them. With a saw you can have them way down to basically a kerfs width apart but with a cutter...

    The Stig

 HarperCollins have spoiled The Stig! After reading the flumf I don't know how they've managed it but I'm dissapointed none the less. The Beeb will get a hammering for spending £100,000 of taxpayers cash as well but that's something I'd happily spend it on :D

    Oak Kitchen Table

I'd personally stick with oil, haven't used tung but if that's the spec then it sounds fine... Oils give a nice natural finish and are easier to repair than a spray finsh, and a wax will beef it up a bit too. Spray finishes to me give a horrible dull glaze over any of the wood feature, fine for...

    Rutlands Butt Hinges?

Has anybody used these? They're priced the same as the hinges we use every other time but as they have a sale on and I need some, seems silly not to get them! Thanks a'body :D

    'Popping' rippled Sycamore

I think generally French polish is the way to go, best bet is to try some sample boards and various different finishes... As for stains there's loads available, have a look in Axminster for everything you'll need, or eBay :D

    Fuji HVLP gun

I was going to ask the same thing about the Apollo system we use at work, the guns are about £130 new whereas a DeVilbiss budget gun costs about £80 which I'd like to try... We did it once before with a very very poor spray gun where a mate made an adaptor to fit between the thread of the gun...

    Eastend Sawmills RIP

Hi Quadie, I use James Latham at Eurocentral (round the back). I've only bought oak and tulipwood from them so couldn't tell you what else they stock but it's a big ol' building! They have a cataloguey brochure jobby though

What Spec For a New PC?

Thanks lads, I'll have at look for that sort of stuff and see what I can find... My dad's starting a photography business soon so he'll probably look at an iMac Roger, but I have had a look at them before. Probably stick with Dell for the now though :D

What Spec For a New PC?

Hullo all, as the title suggests I'm going to buy a new comp! There's lots of numbers and whatnot floating around so generally I'd go with the higher the number, the faster the set-up... But that quickly gets expensive so thought I'd try and find what spec I need for what I use it for, namely...

    Excellent Service From RBS

Opened a business account at the end of June and applied for a credit card, mainly for fuel at £70 a week. 6 weeks later and I still don't have it, moaned about it already, was supposed to arrive in 7-10 days (ending yesterday) so phoned them up today and was told it'd be another 7-10 days from...

    Anybody got an HTC HD2?

E-mail through to say it might need a ROM upgrade or a hard reset, either way it will delete everything saved on it! Not got time to do it tonight and I'm working tomorrow so Sunday I'll give it a go... Brilliant iPhone was better

    Anybody got an HTC HD2?

I've had the battery out a few times for one of those 'resets' but to no avail... I got on to HTC earlier today, just before I posted that first message so just waiting to hear back from them... It's getting to be an expensive paperweight now! Thanks Mark
