I bought a DeWalt 745 table saw which has a riving knife to which the guard is attached, the riving knife is therefore much higher than the saw blade and is impossible to lower below the height of the blade. As far as I can see the only solution would be to remove it.

The 'Mary Rose' was made of oak and you only have to see how it has stood up to being under water for such a long time to fully appreciate the quality of oak.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with an angle grinder Paul ... it all boiled down to the ring insert.

Mark, I freely admit to knowing nothing about woodworking, but would it be possible to use dowels let into the top of the brackets and the shelf lowered onto them ?
