Rutlands 10% off everything + Free UK Delivery

This came at just the right time for me, I need a 1/16th slot cutter and I've been racking my brains for a way to do the job without it. This just pushed me over into 'ah, well it *is* a bargain' territory :)

    Bootfair Spiers? Infill

Something about this doesn't ring true. I think it's the original, badly repaired. If you were going to braze a new top onto a broken screw, you wouldn't include lots of (non-functional because of the braze) thread from the replacement top - you'd shorten the screw as GazPal proposed. And if...

    Embarassing question

I was in my local Shires Timber (which is part of Travis Perkins I think) yesterday, and noticed they had these in. So it should be fairly easy to pick up in a builder's merchant.

    Stinky Washing machine

We had the same problem recently, and I cured it with 2 hot washes. First one had washing soda and baking powder in the tray. Second one had bleach in the tray - you need a very small amount (half a cup at most). I put too much bleach in and had to stop the wash twice and set it to the drain...

    Electrolytic de-rusting=dull grey tools! :-(

Will you be hanging it on the wall, or using it? Is it shiny enough to slide smoothly across your shooting board - that's about as shiny as it needs to be...

    Google Streetview

Unlikely, the system is fully integrated. They have a car with 360 camera coverage and a GPS unit. It's all hooked up together so that the location and images are associated with each other as they are taken. They have google tricycle rigs for places that cars aren't permitted - parks etc...

    Virgin routing issues

Strangely enough, too high a signal level :) The head end was shouting at your router / settop box, so he added an attenuator to quieten it down. They usually have a dB printed on them somewhere.

What would you call this, and how do I do it?

Thanks for the replies guys. I was worried that 'three bits of wood' might crop up - I thought of that as an easier way to do it, after I'd already started :) Oh well, I'll keep on bashing. It's made slightly more painful than it might be because these are workbench sleds, so the work is...

What would you call this, and how do I do it?

I'm not sure what you'd call what I want to do. I'd like to remove the red section in the crude diagram below, using handtools only: I should add that the section to be removed is ~ 1 cm deep, 60cm long and 10cm wide. So a fair amount of material to remove. Cheers!

    Guidance on shelves......

I'll bite (and regret it, I'm sure). What do you call it when the construction being discussed is not a beam, Grim?
