My current line of work gives me access to some good sized timber in the round. I get hold of the more interesting pieces or larger lumps. I don't turn but seems a waste to not use them so how would a large logs be best prepared for future turning. Just got hold of some 12" diameter laburnum and don't want to mess it up for future use for someone. At present I just cut the logs along there length so end up with half moon shaped sections and coat them in PVA. Is this OK?

There are some notes about storing in the HELP Sticky at the top of the forum.

There is a guide to log orientation and grain effects when turned HERE.

OK thanks. Looks like I am doing the right things. Just need to wait a few years and hopefully will have nice bowl blanks for sale.
