I have turned it, cuts easily, but I got a bit of water (sap) build up on the tools and of course got sprayed. wear a facemask and stuff to protect yourself and your lathe from the damp.

Thanks for the advice did you rough turn then leave to dry wrapped up in paper.
 
The bowls I did were rough turned to shape then put in paper chicken food bag surrounded by lots of shavings. No splits. (Unlike cherry)
 
Fresh yew very rarely splits even with the pith in it, it's one of the best woods Iv wet turned, I don't even rough turn them now and if I do I only leave them a couple of days, I love turning yew
