Hi,

Does anyone have any good workbench plans about? It will be made of probably lleylandii bottom and top or possibly lleylandii bottom and MDF and oak floorboard top which I have knocking about in good condition all milled up.

Please don't advise me to buy chris schwarz book because I know I won't read it, is there anything on the web for free or paid?

I built the Paul Sellers workbench first, really wonderful experience for learning how to work by hand but if you want something a little quicker the Fine Woodworking article on workbenches is really good, has tonnes of pictures and detailed enough plans to build them.

I think Chris Schwarz's book (there are are least two) is available on kindle actually. Around £10 from memory. I bought a used one off Amazon for £10 in immaculate condition and it is actually a really good read. I learnt a lot about things I didn't even know I needed to know!

Duno if you don't like that bench style but I did come across this stumbling round the tinternet a while back. (freely available btw) Not strictly plans as such. And to be honest a bit of reading but its a few pages, not a book. Your choice of course!
If you dont want that style of bench its obviously a no go.

Nooo... I had just settled on a bench design before I read that :(

For the op, do you really know what you need or want in your bench? I thought I did then I read the first few chapters of the Schwarz book. I've still not read it all but even the first few is worth reading (and you'll sell the book for as much as you pay if you find it used)

Last months woodworking crafts magazine No6 had bench plans and were pretty decent
