How long does it take to dry sliced wood so I can do pyrography with it

A little more information would help - a slice of what? Air dried timber? A newly cut down tree? Long grain or short?

Rule of thumb with fresh wood is a year to an inch ...
I suspect it could be much faster with thinner stuff, but that might require a stable cut to begin with
flipping wood often and weighting it down ...in an environment where is suited to the timber ...
Risk of cracking ...might try having spares if this happens
and sealing the ends with hot candle wax or plenty of glue exc
