hi lads i have a very nice condition woden no7 to sell it has original blade and cap iron .
the handles are very good no damage and the casting is in very good condition .i have stripped all the paint off and resprayed with a dark blue enammel which is very very close to original colour i was looking for a rough idea of value if anyone has a clue
they are not very common tools unless you look on paul sellars bench

Post War Stanley/Record #7s tend to make £50 - £90 depending on condition. Woden might be less well made but certainly rarer.

The only comparisons I can vouch for are a Woden vice V a Record vice: Woden not nearly as well made and a Woden #78 V Stanley and Record #78s: Woden nearly as well made.

This doesn't prove much except it might well fetch as much or more because of rarity and your care and attention and, of course, that I have too many #78s.

That said, rarity or not (not that rare anyways) because of the major alteration (respray) it's no longer original and no longer desirable to the collector.
As a user once once fettled, iron replace ment ect should be just as good. So with these factors in play Id say the values is about £30.
But that's just me, and my 2p worth.

Then again I could be very wrong

I would think that as a user, it would be less valuable than a Stanley or Record.

As a rarity/collectable it would depend on it's era. An earlier "Woden" manufactured by Woden would be more valuable than a later "Woden" manfactured by Record (Record used "Woden" as a second grade, cheaper brand of plane).

So an earlier Woden might equal or exceed the value of a Record, but a later one is unlikely to. A Woden plane website was established this year - that may help you identify the era of yours.

I'd imagine it could only be classed as collectible if it was totally original regardless of condition. As it is, I'd say it could only be classed as a worker.

I don't know that that rule would be applicable in every case. For example a rebuilt Norris would still be worth considerably more than the equivlilent size Record iron plane. But in the case of a Woden you're probably right.

Of course, you don't need to mention the respray on ebay etc, although if someone was to ask it would be wrong to deceive - a friend of mine regularly sells repainted record vices as they make more on ebay than when just cleaned up.
