I fancy starting a small personal web site ( not a 'blog' ) to record my interest in turning and the progress ( if any ) I make etc.
I have had several websites years ago hosted with 1&1 and have mixed feelings about them. Who are you using ?

Currently using Webhostingbuzz. Pricing is good and support is in the UK. Previously used Just Hosts, but they take the p*** at renewal time. LCN might be worth a look, too. They all use cPanel

I don't host any websites, just mail and FTP accounts, but never seemed to have suffered downtime with any of them.

I would avoid 1&1. I had a website hosted with them and domain registered, but they make it almost impossible to transfer away.

I use Compila for 5 sites - see http://www.compila.com/website-hosting.html - for some of their current offer prices.

UK Domain name included in most cases, but I think they charge in 2-year lumps for the smaller hosting packages..

The Starter package should be OK for you, and you can always upgrade if necessary.

Never had any problems, and they are helpful with queries by e-mail.

GoDaddy in my wife's case. Started her business recently and they provide web hosting and e mail. Good support and reasonable pricing and support has been superb while we hobbled our way through building the content.

I'm with TSO and have been for a few years now - excellent. Before that I used 123-Reg and the hosting for CMS based stuff (Wordpress etc.) was terrible.

Heliohost are pretty good. Guess xhosting is also a good shot.

I've been using 123connect for to host websites and forums for several years now. I must get around to moving the forums away from smf though, it's dung!
