Ive been having problems with tapatalk working and couldnt seem to use the search function on it. Same thing on here :| Think the name was Mikedd and he was expecting a much awaited delivery from Axminster tomorrow regarding his faulty bandsaws. I cant seem to find the posts anywhere #-o If someone better at computers could help it'd be greatfully appreciated

Thanks

Coley

I searched aswell via richard at axminsters comments. As Roger says, i think it has been deleted.

I cant even find my posts in the thread. Ive been looking for it on my phone for the last two days :-? Ive been looking under general, buying advice, hand tools. Has all of it been deleted or has he been banned ? Is there a way to do advanced search just for a user ?

I suspect I'll probably get slapped knuckles for this but whats the point in posting if it just gets deleted without even being told why. I didnt consider any of his posts outrageous, if anything I could sympathise with his situation. I struggle posting at the best of times and if I recall I put quite alot of effort in my replies, I don't think i said anything bad :-| if my memory serves me right there was a post saying how useful the internet/forums were at reading uncensored opinions- seems quite ironic now.................

Coley,

I posted on there as well, you may remember. I am guessing that although it dosent seem fair to moderate complaints about a supplier, mikedd may have crossed some line. He had started posting the same on other forums and what may have started out to been a genuine rant/sharing of experience/looking for support, was turning into something slightly bigger which could be viewed as vindictive towards the supplier.

Expressing a view on a public forum, even if truth, can start to be seen as more than a moan if it repeated and repeated if you see what I mean..

I am just guessing that this is why it has been removed.

I made my workmate go to the workshop on a Saturday ( cause he lives nearer) just to make sure everything I posted was factually correct. This seems wrong

Coley,

You may have though that he wasnt outrageous in any way and I am glad you saw the best in him, maybe I always see the bad!, but I personally thought (and I was shot down for it) though that some of his statements were a bit off - like: "They are absolutely mercenary in their neglect, incompetence and shady business practices"

I think that goes beyond how this company should be described even if you have had a catalogue of problems.

That comment was a bit below the belt, but imho there was alot of other useful information contained in the thread- then it could be left to the reader to make there own minds up. Im wondering if he went on a swearing rant or something at the end ? Couldnt it have been locked instead so the other people who have put time and effort into posting wouldn't have ended up wasting there's and others peoples time ?

Unfortunately in the future when some people google 'bandsaw review' and see them sort of statements, they probably wont look or read much furthur.. many people don't have the inclination to read chapter and verse before making a considered opinion.

For me, a few of his comments (around quite a bit of useful stuff) could be viewed as slanderous. Maybe that was why it was removed, but I could be wrong..

Anyway, I'm off to play with my nice Startrite, 30 years old and running like a dream, but each to thier own :|

Hi

I made the post regarding the usefulness of diverse views in forums and appealed to posters to not allow 'emotions' to get the better of them - looks like it didn't work :( . However there were opinions of others, less inflamatory, than mikedd's that have now been lost - could the thread not have been locked, (maybe with an explanation as to why), rather than deleted?

Regards Mick

+1

I agree if a forum becomes too regulated then people will move to other sites to air their views. I believe if a post is taken down then the moderator should explain why, or direct members to the rule.

I only hope as the forum seems to be supported by blue chip suppliers no influence or pressure was placed upon moderators by them. I also wonder what revenue does the site receive, or is it solely a not for profit operation.

I think if you disable your banner ad blocker for a few minutes and wait, you might see a big splash of holy red and white.

OK I'm going to close this thread.

The original thread is Still Open, it is 3 years old.

The thread was hijacked by a multi forum spammer enacting a personal grievance and as usual he collected a number of followers who read what they wanted to read without doing any background research.

Several members in this thread have come near to having action taken by flouting the fact that they are continuing to speculate about a subject when they are not in possession of all the facts.

Had the original thread have been locked they would have been in direct contravention of forum rules.

There was no external pressure on UKW, to remove the posts in question but research by the moderating team determined that the opening premise of the hijacking of the original thread was flawed.

It should be obvious that if something is no longer visible on the open forum then it has been deemed not to be appropriate for legal reasons or not in the best interests of the UKW community as a whole.

No amount of ill informed speculation is going to get details held in the admin archives held for legal or decision making reasons published so please remember that in future.
