Hi.

Where to find tool steel ? Like O1.
Where do you usually by it.

And does anyone knows where I could by this kind of stuff in France ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi thanks.

Matthew, I'd like to make replacement blades for my stanley #50, in millimetrics width. So the length and thickness should be the same. I don't have the measure here, so I'll take them this week end and let you know.
For the width, I plan to make 2,3,4,5,6,8,10,12 mm width blades.

This will be a training for heat treating the bladse as well a making them. Becasue I plan to male some molding plane after that.

So I guess that a plate of stell with the same thickness as the original bladse would be fine. Just as long as I can cut blades in it.

Thanks.

Graween.
If you are getting into heat treatment, may I reccomend this little book.
Hardening, Tempering and Heat Treatment (Workshop Practice)
by Tubal Cain.
From the 'Workshop series', of books. Very informative, may help. :-k
