Hi

I've managed to blunt/bend/break/otherwise spoil my old bits so time for a treat and some new ones.

Any recommended brands/suppliers?

I'm looking just to put holes in wood.

Thanks

I've tried loads of different brands. By far the best I've used is PB Swiss for screwdriver bits. (PB Swiss makes outstanding bradawls and mallets too.)

In silver medal position, I've found Wera and Wiha are both great for screwdriver bits.

Aside from screw driving, then DeWalt is excellent for making holes, e.g. DeWalt DT9282QZ Mini MAC Wood Drilling Kit.

For small holes, I buy the ground HSS drills from ukdrills.

Mostly I get 3.0mm to 6.0mm, drilling shank holes for woodscrews is mostly 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm

The heller drills bits are quite good at a reasonable price, toolstation and ebay.
