My Clifton #3, #6 and #7 and my Wenzloff dovetail and matching cross-cut saw.

Not the Veritas scraper plane then Paul?

Well I've gone the route of many just starting with a scraper blade, then on to one of these

then progressing to the stanley design but still a veritas

Finally ending up with total perfection with

It just amazes me how good it does the job, no burnt or aching thumbs, pure joy to use.

For me the tools I really enjoy using when I pick them up are the LN block plane, Veritas dovetail saw and a relatively cheap japanese saw from Tilgear.

My 4" engineers square and japanese marking knife - helps me have very accurate layout.
Yes, but do they make your heart sing when you pick them up to use.

I also use engineering tools for measuring and marking but they are just tools.

Actually, the marking knife does. I've had so many ill-fitting ones, or ones that are not suitable, that I reach for it anytime I need an accurate line.

It used to be AI chisels, buy they broke so I'm not super-happy with them now.

Any of my planes but especially the new LV NX60 block, japanese chisels and the tiny Japanese chamfer plane I got from Dick - magic.

I know what Grinding One meant about the Festool sander with extraction; it's amazing but nothing that noisy can be a true joy.
