Hi Folks

I've just knocked out a picture frame

picframe.jpg

from a piece of teak given to me by a neighbor into boats. One surface had some lovely weathering (I think it must have been submerged for a while!) and after wire brushing it down I used my band saw to cut a board about 1/2" deep to use for the frame.

Great thing is I've still got a 3/4" board of teak left that's perfect!

Any ideas about what to finish it in? It's very rough and dry at the moment. Thanks for any help.

Cheers, Ted

A few coats of linseed oil should do the trick on teak. Leave for a couple of days between each coat, if the surface of the timber is rough you're not going to be able to buff with a cloth though - Rob

Thanks Rob, I applied the first coat of linseed oil yesterday and it looks ok. I'll probably leave it at two, though.

Cheers, Ted
