waxing old pine?

I've made a bathroom cabinet out of old pine floorboards which look similar to this (the before bit)

I would like to preserve the old pine colour, but antique pine waxes make it look like orange honey pine, which I can't stand. Is there a technique to finishing it, i.e. spraying with dilute caustic first (à la Rico), or certain waxes I could use?
