Here a recent attempt to do something a bit different, and thought i'd share.All feedback welcome.

It walnut with a bit of spalting. and around 8 x 6 x 4" ish.

this is fantastic ryan, i bet that took some doing. Wife says she would like to see a brighter picture, they are a bit dark.
well done mate, keep em coming..
 
Must admit this is my sort of thing. I really like these pieces with the dramatic contrast between turned wood and rough wood. A man and work after my own heart :lol:

I'll have a bash at a few more of these i reckon...
Nice cheap wood anyway, as it was rescued from the local woodyard's firewood bin! I was kindly given permission to liberate it gratis, although he looked a tad confused as to what on earth i'd do with it!

Steve, yep the pics are a touch dark. I tried the dramatic look, but it could do with a straight daylight shot or two. I'll try some more on the 'morrow....
 
Just seen this - and the other one - Very nice,

Looks like a great finish in the bowl.
