Has anyone every come across very large Knock Down fittings, something on a joinery scale rather than on a furniture scale?

The project is a large hardwood plinth for a sculpture, it's a hollow structure, octagonal in shape and about 1.8m in diameter and about 800mm tall. It needs to be made in two parts, pre-finished, shipped to the continent, and assembled on site. There is no access to the interior (for reasons I won't bore you with it can't be assembled upside down then flipped over). Consequently something like the Lamello Clamex fittings but on a bigger scale would be ideal.

How about an espagnolette multi-point locking mechanism for doors? Chuck the handle away after the plinth is re-assembled.

Or blag yourself a trip to France to glue in some dowels? :)

Dovetail keys? easy for the client to knock into place on site

Consider Giro bolts available from Hafele, for example. I've used them to put together knock-down museum exhibition pieces and other similar large assemblies. In one travelling museum exhibition the various exhibits were assembled, dismantled, transported in two or three artics and reassembled about four times a year at various museums around North America. Large dowels aligned parts which were then pulled tight with Giro bolts, so I'm not sure how that might work in something that's octagonal. Slainte.
