I'm thinking of getting one for my antique but possibly everlasting Poolewood 28 - 80 (thanks for the parts, Bogmonster - how's your new toy? :D ). I also use a CL4 quite regularly, so the idea of changeable back plates appeals - it's also one of the few that go up to 1 1/2" x 6. It means it's easily changed in the future, too. I've read some of the old threads, so can anyone add much? Any worthwhile alternatives? What are everyones favourite sizes and types of jaws? I believe they'll carry just about any make of jaws. Feel free to disillusion me if your experiences are negative.

Ideal choice, I have one I change backs for when demonstrating.
1 1/2" normally for my poolwood and I have 1" & 1 1/4" backs.
Make sure you get jaw carriers to match your existing accessory jaws (brand)

Suggest you go for the Axminster jaw carriers and a set of the nesting O'Donnell jaws as a good all round option. Plenty of other jaw types and sizes in the Axi' range to add later if you need to do anything more specialist.

Cheers, Paul

+1 for the administer option if starting from scratch.
Can always get alternate carriers if a quantity of accessory jaws fall your way from some other system.

I`d suggest Oneway no. 3 Premium profiled jaws for big stuff on the VersaChuck,I`ve used them to hold pieces up to 27 inches(69 cm) across and pieces weighing in excess of 70lbs(33Kilos),I`ve had my VersaChuck now for 9 1/2yrs with no problems, clean it every couple of years and re-grease the inards, still working as good as new, cheers,

Eric.
