What would be the best substrate to use for veneered bed rails? I've made them before with a mitred mdf setup but that surrounded a bed whereas this time it'll support a mattress, probably double or king.
I'm thinking some form of birch ply because if I make it from solid poplar or the likes the veneer will run perpendicular to it which I think will create some problems later... As for thickness it's probably 50-100mm and likely 300-400 deep
