Apologies in advance for this basic question that must have been asked a number of times before (I've looked but can't fing the answer).
What is a good/safe speed to turn a bowl blank? The ones I'm using are already cut by bandsaw to a fairly round shape and a mixture of hardwoods the largest being 25cm dia by 6cm deep.

Once the blank is trued up and running balanced then this chart of mine may be of help.
Turning Speed Guide

But it in no way is a guarantee that you are safe, only a guide to aim at giving an indication of what is considered an optimum cutting speed.

There are many variables that have to be taken into account such as security of fixing, the wood type and tool used and the amount of control you have over the tool.
