Tulip wood

Anybody used tulip wood?
Whats it like?

Still not having much luck getting suitable wood locally. Will try a place that does decorative faced ply at the weekend, although I think they have to order it in
Looks like it's going to end up being mail order which isn't ideal.
You'd think living 'next' to a forest I'd have more options.

I did try a search earlier but came up with all sorts of strange results.
I'm very much a forum novice and entirely sure how all these things work Will try harder next time.
