Anyone using a Triton?

Looking at buying a track saw and see many offerings at wildly varying prices from Silverline at £83 to Festool at mega bucks. Won't consider any Screwfix brand names as have fallen foul of their lack of service or spares out of warranty in the past. Scheppach seem to have mixed reviews, stability being a problem with slides being too close together. Triton seem to have after sales support and spares and are in the more affordable (to me) range, for DIY occasional use can't justify Makita, DeWalt etc. and don't want to buy unknown quality used.

Any advice appreciated.

...but for that I would have used this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Kreg-Square-Cu ... 802&chn=ps if I could have found it. LOL

Had one of those a while back then picked up the bench dog version which worked way better. It makes seeing the cut line just like using a track, was easier to hold thanks to forward handle and helped reduce tear out a bit. Felt a bit like cheating but made cutting cladding quick and relatively accurate:

I needed to re-roof a shed in the UK and my workshop is in France, so as much as I did not want to I bought one of these: https://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+power-too ... nds+xt3516 did the job and I have used it since when laying some laminate in the bathroom, but for that I would have used this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Kreg-Square-Cu ... 802&chn=ps if I could have found it. Thanks but I discounted the Rutlands on a couple of points. Unbranded make so future spares could be a problem and they only supply 700mm tracks and I want 1400 x 2 = less room for error. Don't know if it will fit any other make of track whereas the Triton can use their own + Makita & Festool ones.

A quick look suggests that 2x 1500 rails from Triton are £100 , and the saw is ~£150 , could not see a bundle of Triton and track that were not 700mm x2 , so £250 , one you get to that investment I would save a little more and get a Makita , or maybe Bosch saw kit , that way you will definitely get something that spares will be available for years. Ref rails , 2x long rails are OK for long cuts but very unwieldy for all the other stuff , an 800mm rail is needed to get the most use out of the saws, 700mm is surprisingly limiting. Otherwise on a budget the Parkside is outstanding , based on the one I have , second hand is not worth the bother unless you know the owner , I know I have tried that route with wildly varying success , I will write up my experience sometime from Parkside , via Festo , Festool, Makita to Mafell , what I can say is that a track saw is worth it for the ease of obtaining straight cuts , nothing comes close , DIY guides/track can - but depend on blades being parallel to sole plates , a lottery and likely not adjustable.

I use a home made track at the moment but no good for a finished edge. Intended use is breaking down large sheet materials and have table saw once manageable size.

If makes any difference, the Parkside Lidl saw is identical to this 'generic' Rutlands saw, so highly likely to be interchangeable bits/tracks etc.

Thanks for that. The Parkside seems to have good reputation but does it fit anyone else's tracks? Rutlands only appear to have 700mm, as do Parkside.

Me too Parkside on Festool is fine , only 700mm available from Parkside, I was using Mafell on Parkside track at the weekend and just like Festool track its not ideal as the Mafell sole plate only runs on one of the ptfe tape strips - its fine on older Festo/Festool rail without the ptfe tape

From pictures I'm looking at, they appear to be different.

Colour is different and different branding but otherwise they appear to be mechanically the same.
