Toy Box

Hi All, I'm making a toy box in MDF and as the lid will be quite heavy I thought it would be a good idea to install some kind of damper effect or soft close mechanism to keep small fingers safe. I have found this type of thing but as this is for a flap that drops down I'm not sure if this would serve my purpose. Any ideas if this would work or an alternative?
