Today's efforts

I managed to get a full day in today, so here's a look at what I managed.

A maple cheeseboard with a two-quid charity shop bowl as the lid

A lignum carving mallet with a two-tone handle asked for by a friend

A cheapo crab with a tin turned into it (again, a request from a friend)

Good days work ,it's nice to get a bit of time at the lathe ,and then put it to good use.
Like the mallet.

As the top picture was loading on my super slow narrowband, i was thinking Wow! what a finish! looks like glass! #-o

Love the mallet - is it an ex bowl?

Cheers Nev. Not a bowling wood, but a section of a 4x4 blank I acquired. This was the second one I have made from it and I love the heft and finish you get from it. I'd love to try making a large bowl from it, but I reckon the cost would be too great.
