Had a nice walk around the very big bootsale this morning and brought some bits im happy with. I picked up 2 #6 Stanley planes. One of which is ready to use and the other needs a complete sort out.

Also got a record marples #4 and a record marples block plane. A Stanley #5 1\2 and a Stanley #5.

A record spokeshave, a Diston USA tenon saw which need new teeth cut, a ridgeway expansive bit, a lovely marking knife, a very nice bevel angle and a few other bits and bobs, just a tad over £50, but im happy enough lol

That's quite an haul for one day! One of the No. 6 looks quite early and a couple of the other Planes have blades without the rounding to the corners, so possibly good examples too. £50 would be a bit of a bargain for the two No. 6 alone.
The Disston isn't from the finest period and really would be a labour of love to restore it.

Nice haul Danny. I saw a pair of No 6s a few weeks back that I was quite tempted by. It may even have been the same pair.... I'm quite envious of the spokeshave too, I need to find a few of those!

I stayed at home this morning but Doris picked up a pair of moulding planes on my behalf for a fiver:

The one on the right has had an extra fence added at some point. I'll be keeping the fence but I'll replace the rusty steel screws with some brass ones

Over here in Bulgaria there is a Saturday market. Its pretty close to what you call a car boot but with chickens and puppies thrown is as well. I think I was quite fortunate to pickup an early record No 4 with the nice rosewood handles and Stay set blade set and a Little DOL starter switch 3 phase 240V that I have yet to test. Each was 10 levs which works out about 4 quid in English. Oh and a Gold century metal security scanner that Im sure I can use for testing reclaimed beams for nails for 30 levs which is about a 12 quid. So fairly happy. The plane needs a thorough derust as there is quite a bit on the base but the mechanism seems to work nicely.

I think it will be a good user.
