I have just made a picnic table and benches. I have treated it with bratoline crecote. Have I made a big mistake. If I haven't how can I get rid of the smell.

Not my first choice as a wood preserver but it does work, the smell will disappear after the sun's been on it sometime.
I wouldn't know what would be safe to re coat with,
I suggest That you check this out, just in case of a chemical re-action.
See what others say.

Thanks for your reply. I used it as had some in house save me going out to buy. As soon as I started I was thinking I have made the wrong choice.

I personally don't mind the smell, it's very Jeyes fluid in the garden, country smell.
Like most things, it'll dry out in the sun and you can put something else on in place.
Regards Rodders

Both contain cresylic acid, and have that classic creasote smell.

I used armillotox once to sterilise a greenhouse - never again, it smelt like a public toilet for a whole season!
