You might need to plane a bit up and take some better photos, very hard to tell from those ones. Not beech though, bark is too rough.

Edit - end grain would be useful too
 
Looks like ash. Marked olive heartwood and no obvious sapwood
 
Yep...Ash 100%. The tight olive heartwood in the planed piece, the bark and the dullish cream on the sawn long grain surfaces. I've turned a great deal of Ash that I've processed directly from the tree and what it looks like is....that :)
 
I will give it a little sanding tomorrow can i do anything else to make it any easier

Well done to every one who said ash when the person delivered the slab for me i was not in and could not get hold of him until today who confirmed the slab as ASH so well done and thank;s for your help
