I've always fancied timber framing....

Does anyone do it as a job?

Does it work as a solo worker doing smaller porches / carports etc.

Are there good courses to do?

Just blue sky thinking,....

You could wing it like Alex has:

I have done a fair bit in the past, but its hard work lumping big sections around without a forklift and then hand tools are expensive such as: Slicks then you go to : Chain morticers

However it is a very pleasurable occupation, but you do need a fair amount of space to work and set out, and to stack the timber.

Slicks are mainly for softwood anyway, as they are a complete bwaitch to use effectively on green oak. I have two of them and I never use them.
