This is political correctness gone past mad!

If anyone in the U.K. is upset by the Union Flag then they should leave. I think that the Aussies have the right idea in that it's a free country and if you don't like how it is you are free to leave!

Next thing they will be banning Christmas trees in Bradford? (just being sarcastic)

If it was the union flag I wouldn't have a problem with it. That however is not the union flag, it's a *******ised version of it designed exclusively for their own use. Not appropriate IMO.

The colours are different and the blue line through it are cool with me.
I'd wear one. Non-issue IMO.

Um! Bradford has a Carrilon, this being a peel of tuned bells, church type, played from a keyboard. Until maybe ten years ago the carrilon played one of a variety of carol tunes on the hour trough the day, on the run up to Christmas. A very pleasant, to me, thing.
Then it was stopped, "to avoid upsetting people".
It is amazing the number of, mainly asian, taxi drivers who asked why it was no longer played. :(

I suspect that this story, like all the stupid PC rumours which get kicked about, is nonsense. Or if not, it wasn't PCness it was just the noise. Understandable IMHO especially if you were stuck there having to listen to christmas cheerfulness every hour!

DU BELLS, DU BELLS

My friend's brass band, down near the pointy end of Cornwall was turned down for a lottery grant because despite being short of musicians they had no one from an ethnic minority. This was before being Cornish in Cornwall counted as being from an ethnic minority, mind. :)

I don't suppose that's true either.

The man is a good personal friend. He told me the week it happened.
If there is any truth in it at all, it won't be that simple.

Just for information, does the 'PC' in the thread title refer to 'Police Constable' or 'Political Correctness'?

Either way, the by-line on the article is 'By Agency', which probably means the paper has lifted it off some website somewhere without doing too much in-depth checking. The Telegraph has let a lot of journalists go over the last twelve months or so, and sadly that's starting to reflect in the quality and depth of the paper's reporting of 'secondary' stories, notably in the foreign affairs field (albeit this story is UK-based). It may be wise to take the story with a fair pinch of salt.

Charity boxing match sounds like a good idea
Can I stand in for Bugbear?

I've heard similar regarding an under 3's playgroup.
You've "heard " it - and you've repeated it. That's how PC nonsense gets spread.
