I can reccomend the book The End of The Line.
A depressing look at the state of the worlds fisheries.
The Quota sustem is one of the most stupid pieces of legislation ever.

Done it! A poster referred on here to the 'intelligent' EU. He's correct, no idiot would believe that you can conserve fish stocks by killing them discarding them.
Those interested might wish to follow up the Canadian approach, which is somewhat different.

Treeturner - I'm on a good few mailing lists too, but I've got my email client (Thunderbird) to filter them into their own folders and I only read them when I feel the need and have the chance.
Otherwise I don't even see them.
Best of both worlds.
