I am re-fitting an old river boat and planing to instal new lockers (cupboards). The structure is exterior ply and I want to frame the cupboard doors with hardwood (oak) to hide the edges. My plan was to produce the framing from strips of planned oak, e.g. from a 3/4" x 3/4" section to route out 1/2" x 1/2" to leave an "L" shaped section (rounded first on the corners). However I can see that it is going to be a little tricky to support the workpiece on the Router Table, unless perhaps I make a series of shims to receive the section on the out feed side - probably several different sizes since I don't expect to cut this much as a single pass. Is there a trick I am missing or another way to do this?

As usual all help gratefully received

You make the moulding you want on the edge of a wide board and then rip it off.

If you don't have the equipment for that you can build the moulding up in section and glue it together, work with straight grained oak and it would be very difficult to see that it's been glued.

Good luck!
