I'm doing some research in table saw fences and would like to know any feedback/ideas anyone has as regards to length height, features, fixtures etc, if feather boards are used, where you usually would clamp them, how you would clamp them.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob
Well as regards length, it depends what you are doing.

If you are making non-through cuts (and can guard satisfactorily while doing so) the you need support for the full length.

But if you are ripping, a short fence is safer, as it prevents binding behind the blade, and hence reduces the risk of kickback. The short fence should extend beyond the front teeth but not as far as the centre of the blade.
