I've just picked up an Elektra Beckum PK200 with all the trimmings which I'll set up tomorrow - it's in perfect condition and I'm really chuffed. What I'm not sure about though is the extraction - it currently has a 100mm connector going to 2 32mm hoses, one to a hood under the blade, one to a hood above the blade.

2 32mm diameter hoses is a hell of a restriction on a 100mm extractor inlet. On the other hand, running both off a shop vac result in quite a large volume for it to shift combining the two hoods.

I'm assuming the norm is to run off an extractor given the 100mm connector, but is that the best choice in practice?

Thanks!

I would stick as close as poss to whatever size the vacuum inlet is. Going larger and then smaller (or vice versa) will play havoc with the flow.
But you definitely need a cyclone in there, then you can do without the cleaner bag.
