Sorry to start yet another thread on this saw.
Purchased this one today after leaving work. Got home and got the boxes into my workshop. After unboxing the saw and starting to assemble it over a cuppa :D
I decided to try my straight on the table top as the mitre guide wasn't running through the slots very well.
What i found was that from left to right the table was flat.
Front to back on the RHS was flat.
Front to back on the LHS was bowed in the centre, i could fit a piece of wet and dry under the straight edge
Diagonally from the front LHS to rear RHS i can get the wet and dry under the centre and still have room.
Diagonally front RHS to LHS rear a hooge bow in the centre, so much in fact i can measure it. A whole 2mm between the bottom of the straight edge and the table top

I was really looking forward to using it over the weekend. I now either have to box it all back up and take it back to the nuneaton branch and hope they have a better copy. Or call Axminster in the morning and see what they can do. I guess the 2nd option would mean no new top till the new year :(

I see the quality standards have not got any better. I had exactly the same problems with mine bought in 2010. Also check the sliding extension - on mine the supporting wheels were not centred on their bearings and as I moved the carriage it would tighten up. I eventually got a replacement machine delivered after various parts had been substituted. Still had to fettle that a bit.

Get onto Axminster, they may be able to open another one check it's flat and swap just the top.

I called customer services first thing, the lady i spoke to originally was going to have this saw returned and a replacement sent out. However that would take till at least the new year to do. So i called the branch i purchased it from, they had one left in stock. He checked the top on that and the demo version and both were as bad as my one

Called customer services again and the nice chap there is sending me a new top out today and if Royal mail pull their finger out i should have it monday :D

Just hope it is flat

No sliding carriage yet, that will be next years purchase, so something to look out for re the fitting - thank you :)
