Another ebay purchase of mine, a few years ago this one. A 600 mile round trip to Newcastle to collect secured it for my collection; people say the UK is a small place - it isn't that small!
The stone is 46" in diameter, and 7" wide. It would originally have been 48". There are two substantial dovetail ways at one end of the trough, which i think would have carried a tool slide similar to the catalogue picture i have found lower down the page. This catalogue picture is of a much older machine i think, dating from around 1890 i think. I have no idea of the real age of my example.

I reckon you can still get a little bit more use out of that wheel before it needs changing for another one! :)
 
I reckon his other half must have asked him for a kitchen knife sharpener for her birthday.
