Ironic that I should comment on swamp divers post and mention that I too make holes in the bottom of my bowls even now after all these years!

Nice little thin bowl in sycamore 10 inches x 2, underside is beautiful but..............

Oh dear! I've gone through the bottom!

So I made a small piece from some Ivy end grain to take the Black spirit dye, then counterbored to take a stainless spike that I bought in a Brighton sex shop! (That'll get you talking )

I like it, sometimes it takes the mistakes and accidents to make us think outside the pail. I like the shape of the bowl as it is but the dark collar and spike lift it onto another plain for me.

I won't ask what you are doing in a sex shop LOL.

Thankyou but I didn't buy the collar, only 6 spikes. The original intention was to use them as tripod legs but fixing them to the wood without 3 holes in the bowl was too difficult!
