Summer has finally arrived. Working out on the deck today under the shade sail and it was 28*C.
Time, I thought with a secret smile, for short skirts and tank tops.
Yes. I know they make me look gay but...

Forecasting coldest day so far tomorrow with more gales on Friday - not jealous at all!

I vote that much as we enjoy having members from far off lands ( ex pats in this case ?) they should have to promise not to brag about their horrible sunny weather. We like it like this.
<exits left for brain transplant>

Have tried not to do the usual weather complaint thing . So much for that. Kincardine Ontario , Canada (Fairly nearby town) has been effectively closed for a fortnight. No roads in or to escape by. 30 km west of there, on tiny dirt road , (which coincidentally has not been seen during the same fortnight) is my home and refuge. Not gonna complain , nope , not one bit. Just one request ... GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!

Sounds like cabin fever! At least you've got the Interwebs to keep you sane...

However, I think you'll find that Canadian snow is far less powerful than our British snow. My evidence, you ask? Simple, ~2mm of snow and a sharp frost will bring much of the UK to a standstill whereas life goes on almost as normal in 'apparently' much heavier falls in Canada. I rest my case.

I hope you're well stocked up, warm and safe.

A good and well reasoned argument. Well done.

Something to think about Wellywood? You should be about 1/2 way through you summer and it's only 28ºC.. We will be getting warmer and warmer when you are getting colder and colder

I was out in the garden today and was just on the point of taking my shirt of and carrying on with just my 'T' shirt. Soon it will be shorts, from late April until about mid November and a pool temp of about 28ºC 8) 8) 8)

The ground don't shake here either

Funnily enough, I nearly joined the R.N.Z.A.F. when my time was up in the R.A.F. :)

Here, here, its bad enough family members living down under whinging about the heat without getting it on here as well.

Good grief! Never thought I'd be banned for mentioning the weather. Perhaps I'd better pick a safer subject.
Does anyone follow cricket?

They talk about catching a edge when playing cricket :? but just how do you sharpen a cricket bat to get a decent edge on it

No. No and thrice NO.

Don't you dare start another sharpening thread

Quite personally I would use a sharp German pattern draw knife to get a decient edge on any kind of bat. Then to give it a lasting edge just a smidgen of a wipe with a gas blow tourch to harden the edge and then bees wax for the finish and any other method would be put to complete shame as the biggest load of pony poo you could imagine.

With that edge you could cut one of these ***** yorkie bar type northern chucks right out of the court and into a bunker 8) 8) 8)

Eat yer heart out all you disbelievers
