I took the end of a finger off last year on my planer. Luckily the consultant at our local hospital is a finger expert - his waiting room every week was full of woodworkers!

No stitches or grafts, just a weekly dressing with a plastic material to keep all the gunge in and the wound moist. Two months later the skin had grown right back over the amputated bone - complete with fingerprints!

The smell, though!!! It was the most effective form of contraception I've ever come across!

Hope you're back in action soon. It's my livelihood - so I had all of 12 hours off!
