Hi chaps,

Is there a good reason why I shouldn't double up both the sole plates and head plates? My ceilings in question are around 2.6m high, so with doubled-up plates I could cut two studs out of a 4.8, whereas if I go for 3.6's I will be forced to order a lot more timber.

Cheers,
Mark

I've done that in the past, but i fixed a sole plate to the floor and ceiling first, then fitted the stud wall inbetween, fixed to the previously fixed sole plate and head plate. Not sure if that is what you meant or whether you were doubling up on the initial construction before fitting.
