There was some discussion on these planes earlier and I mentioned I had one in the back of the cupboard.
Took it out and its a stanley not a record. No wonder I could't find reference to the B behind the frog!
Went through the online dating (er... not what you're thinking!) guides and it turns out it is a type 8 from between 1899 and 1902.
Like I said in the other thread it is certainly a user. Check out the wear on the blade!
I'll see if a quick sharpen on an oil stone licks it into working condition. Might be some more life in that blade yet
