Hi all, I am considering buying a spiral router bit for a box making jig i'm making. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between upward spiral and downward spiral bits? the bit i'm after will be mounted in the router table. Thanks Phil.

one will try and pull outof the router and the other try to push further in the collet. There are loads of end mills and slot cutters on ebay that will do the job.

Will end mill cutters do the job? I have some, but wasn't sure they would really suffice. OMG I hope they will do.

Neil

Upward spiral bits pull the wood fibres up at the edge of the cut. Downward spiral cutters push them down and cut them off, giving a cleaner cut.
