Hi, image an older model spindle shaper moulder from Axminster from around 2001. I possibly was marketed as yms01a, but it looks like they were really badged jws 34 l. This comes with a 3/4 and 1 inch spindle shift that bolts onto shift of motor.

The cutters it came with are no longer available so looking to upgrade to fit 30mm spindle from the later jwl 34lx/kx.

I know the speeds may be fast at 8000 and 10000 but I can reduce this.

I have asked Axminster but they can't say the 30 mm spindle would fit.

I had a spindle moulder fence from another machine I can mod to fit.

Has anyone ever done this or know if the spindles available from jet would fit

Many thanks

Dave

You can get tooling sleeved to fit smaller spindles, some people have mixed views on the practise but it might be an option.

Hi Dave,

I have recently bought this model of moulder off eBay but didn’t realise that it would have a 3/4 inch spindle!

I’m looking to replace it with a 30mm spindle, did you have any look in your efforts?

Thanks

John
