So, I just bought myself a hitachi circular saw and after firing it up, there aren't half a lot of sparks where the brushes touch the motor. Should I be surprised? Am I concerned about nothing? or is something a bit wrong?

Thanks,

Pat.

Pat,

The brushes will spark a bit, more so as its new. Once they have worn to the curve of the armature it should not be as noticeable.

Thnaks, I had a feeling I might be worrying needlessly. Its interesting its not something I've ever really noticed before. But then this is the first decent quality tool I've owned, so maybe its just that the tolerances aren't quite as sloppy as I'm used to.

HI Pat

Don't worry too much about the saw, my Hitachi did exactly the same thing - and sounded a bit rough to boot. But after a couple of weeks it bed in and was a lovely saw to use.
