What's a reasonable price to pay for a slab of spalted Beech measuring 2' x 1' x 4.5" as I don't really have any idea. Or 4 sheets of 1" x 2' x 1 ' Considering thatbit's about the size of 4 turning blanks? Would £40 - £50 or £60 be in the ball park?

Thanks for that. I wanted to have some assurance that I am not paying over the odds at £40, which I was pleased with, particularly when actually cut into the 1" planks that I often work with.

As it's the only one, is aNyone aware of a supplier of spalted beech timber planks that is handy to the West Midlands?

Appreciate the remark about safety. I do now wear my mask all the time and it has made a great difference.

Thanks for that Steve.

It looks a good possibility as only 1.5 hours as against 2 hours to Yeoville and Yandle & son where there is another good choice. May give it a try sometime.
