Is there anyone producing large ripsaws anymore?
For a great many years we had an ancient 46" 2tpi ripsaw, however when I left home for uni, my mother extended the kitchen into my workshop, and put the big handsaw in the roof of our ratty old tin shed... When I went to retrieve it the other week the blade had rusted through, leaving me stuck with several large* oak logs which I can't break down for seasoning now.
I rather liked the saw, and would quite like a replacement, but the only thing close i'm aware of is the 36" one man crosscut Flinn-Garlick sell, and I won't be buying a brand-new saw to immediately re-profile it, let alone one that big...
*by large, I mean they're each 7' long and expect to get about 4 9" by 2" boards and a 11" by 3" out of each one sawing through and through...
