Hi all

I rediscovered an old saw I bought years ago and I am not sure what its proper description would be. It is a 26" Sorby kangaroo brand, but the interesting thing is it is 5 1/2 tpi at the front, running to a 4tpi at the handle. Did this progressive chage in tpi have a particular purpose? It would benefit from a sharpen, but apart from that it is good condition, with only light surface rust. I know you guys like photos (as do I), but a new computer has defeted me at the moment.

Gareth.

Yep. The reason is this configuration makes it easier to start the cut but still be very aggressive.
Sounds like a great old saw.

I remember an old Journeyman of mine who's Disston (Philadelphia Disston), I think it was about 26", a crosscut, and had a curved to the teeth alignment, along the full length of the blade, this was meant to give more power to the stroke when cutting...bosshogg
