You have more than likely seen these elsewhere, as they are free plans.

Made a few sets of them for the local toddler group and some more to go to local food bank, in the hope some young children may get some new toys.

3 coats of Child safe paint, and glued the wheels on, turned out ok I think.

I downloaded the patterns for these, toesy, but never got around to making any. The main reason being I don't really have anyone to give them to. I don't have any kids, don't know any kids, and about the only time I go out of the house is on the motorbike in summer. Second reason is I hate finishing stuff I cut, so they would be in bare wood.

And I have started venturing into the world of Varnish (Havent done the wheels yet)

they look better painted TBH, the kiddy wont be bothered about the grain and position, just wants to play with the red brum brum ;)

I suspect that Homer may be right in that kids would appreciate the bright colours more than the wood grain, but I have to say, to me they both look fantatsic. 8)
Did you buy wheels or cut them?

Yes, per unit, think they cost 11p each or something, I bought 400 last time and the cost went down to 8p each.

only thing is I've been drilling out the centre's to accept 6mm dowel's, as they are 3mm I think.

Good work, Toesy.

If I were finishing them it would be clear lacquer only because I am crap at painting, but I am sure as others have said, children would go for the bright colours.

As an aside, I use Chestnut Acrylic Lacquer, gives a great finish, easy to apply and toy safe.

Axminster Stock number: 118014.
Also available at Rutlands and Yandels.
I would assume that most other hardware outlets would stock it.

Take care.

A point I forgot to mention about (Chestnut Acrylic Lacquer), it has a fairly short shelf live, I think its under twelve months, off the top of my head, so only purchase what you can use in that sort of time.

The use by date on the bottle really means what it says, I left an unopened bottle go past its date, it was by several months. But when I did open, the contents were of a paste consistency, I tried to rejuvenate by adding water and mixing, but no go, it was in the bin time.

Take care.
