Hi,

Here are some photos of a small cabinet I finished recently. Made out of (Spalted) Beech and Padauk. The drawers run on central runners, as those with sharp eyes can see.

Now that's a very pleasant looking cabinet. Like the central drawer runner (as used by Robert Ingham) and the look of the spalted beech. Any hints as to construction and finish? - Rob

The cabinet measures 400 X 220 X 600 (W X D X H mm).

And here is a picture of it open. The door is held closed by two magnets hidden behind a Padauk plug - one in the door and one in the frame.

great little project how much did the timber cost, ive never bought hardwood before as i,m new to this

Thank to everyone for the feedback.

Here is a photo of the drawer where one can see the central runner and the handle. A circle is routed 10mm into the front of the drawer and a piece of Padauk (5 X 5 mm section) is then glued across.

The cabinet is finished with two layers of shellac and then waxed.

As for the price of the wood - I reckon it cost me something like £40 alltogether.
